About Us
When Jerry Fedewa Homes was established in 1980, we had one clear objective: to build truly custom homes with an unwavering focus on quality. Over the past 40+ years, with more than 350 homes built in the Lansing area, one lesson has become undeniable—attention to detail makes all the difference in creating a custom home that lasts.
Jerry Fedewa’s vision didn’t end with him. After four decades of leading the company, he entrusted his four sons—Will, David, Michael, and Greg—to carry on his legacy. As the new owners of Fedewa Homes Inc., we’re committed to preserving and enhancing that tradition. But here’s what sets us apart: when you choose us, you don’t just get a builder. You get the Fedewa family, personally involved in every stage of your home’s construction.
From the very beginning, you’ll work directly with one of us. Greg and David will guide you through the design, selections, and planning, while Michael and Will ensure that the construction of your home is executed with the kind of precision and care we demand for our own homes. We often tell our clients, “When you build with us, you’re building with family.” You’ll even meet our office manager, Will’s wife Rachel, and our warranty coordinator, Aunt Ginger Sweet. The Fedewa family works for you.
But we don’t just build homes—we build better homes, every single time. Our approach is rooted in constant learning and improvement. We don’t settle for “good enough”; instead, we invest in processes that make each new home more efficient and more carefully crafted than the last. For example, we work with a third-party energy testing company to ensure that each house is optimized for energy efficiency. Using advanced techniques like blower door and duct blast tests, they help us pinpoint where air escapes and how effectively the heating and cooling systems function. The results? We’re not just meeting standards—we’re surpassing them, ensuring your home is as energy-efficient as possible.
Our partnerships with tradespeople are another secret to our success. In fact, many of the trades we work with have been by our side for over 40 years. They share our commitment to quality, and it shows. Our trim carpenters, for example, bring a combined 100+ years of experience to each project, perfecting every finishing touch. Their craftsmanship is second to none.
Your home should reflect how you live, not the other way around. That’s why we don’t start the conversation with a floor plan. Instead, we ask you about your daily life—your habits, your interests—and use that to design a home that fits you like a glove. Our custom design process is personal and collaborative, and we’ll work with you until every aspect of your home feels right. From early sketches to final blueprints, your input guides the process, ensuring that your home isn’t just custom—it’s uniquely yours.
Unlike large production builders, we focus on quality over quantity. We’re not interested in building hundreds of homes a year. Instead, we limit ourselves to 10-12 truly custom homes annually. This allows us to give each project the focus it deserves. Whether you want to build in a subdivision or on a standalone parcel of land, we have the experience to tackle the unique challenges that arise. Custom sites often bring unexpected hurdles—driveway installations, utility connections—but with our expertise, those challenges become opportunities for innovation.
We’re upfront about our pricing too. We’re not the cheapest builder, and we don’t aim to be. If your primary goal is to get the lowest price per square foot, we might not be the right fit. But if quality and attention to detail are your top priorities, you’ll find that we’re the builder you’ve been looking for. Our goal is to deliver a home that exceeds your expectations—one that you’ll love for years to come.
And we’re there for you even after the keys are in your hand. Every home we build comes with a one-year warranty. During your first year, it’s natural for your home to settle, which might cause doors to shift or a bit of drywall to pop. Once you’ve hit your one-year anniversary, we’ll come back, assess any issues, and make any adjustments necessary. We love reconnecting with our clients during this process and hearing about how the first year in your new home has been.
